Stuttgart Exchange
Pictured, the crowd at the Oct. 15, 1982 grand opening of the Stuttgart Exchange.
At the time, the Stuttgart Exchange was the Army & Air Force Exchange Service's largest shopping center in Europe.
Today, the largest Exchange in Europe -- indeed in the world -- is at Germany's Ramstein AB.
The Army & Air Force Exchange Service still operates stores in Stuttgart, which, along with stores in Ansbach, comprise the EUCOM Consolidated Exchange.
Stuttgart and Ansbach provide goods and services for U.S. military and government civilians within the Southern German states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.
The shopping mall at Stuttgart's Panzer Barracks is one of the largest stores in Germany, just 10 minutes from Stuttgart's Patch Barracks.
