Pour 1 volume of Elixir into an appropriate glass
Place the Absinthe spoon over the glass and then a piece of sugar on top of the spoon
Pour slowly 5-8 vol. of cold water very slowly over the sugar
Sit back
Enjoy the view of the Sleeping Beauty a.k.a. Green Fairy
Consume the Sleeping Beauty
In 1916 at the height of World War I, at a time when prohibition was the cause of the day, Absinthe was outlawed.
The case was compounded due to the presence in the plant of a toxic substance: thujone (from wormwood).
Famous artists, writers and poets like Picasso, Baudelaire, Hemingway, Degas, Manet, Toulouse-Lautrec and Oscar Wilde all heavily indulged in it. Maybe it was the mystical allure of `The Sleeping Beauty`a.k.a. "The Green Fairy," or maybe it helped inspire their creativity.
