Utah Badlands Smoky Sunrise
The other worldly alien landscape of the Utah badlands made even more surreal by the sunrise light emitting through thick wildfire smoke that cast an orange glow on the cliff faces, while keeping the undulating hills below in cool, blue shadow. Last summer, my husband and I enjoyed a weeklong off-roading camping trip between Colorado and Moab on the Rimrocker Trail, albeit under very smoky skies! A highlight was a short side-trip spending a couple of days in the badlands outside of Capitol Reef, an area to which we’re drawn to return, again and again.
