Glacier buttercups

These lovely little flowers (ranunculus glacialis) are one of the highest-ascending alpine plants, flowering at over 4,000 meters. This place is far lower though, a little alpine pass at about 3,000 meters. Flowering plants are a rarity there anyway, and there is still old snow below this spot, on either side of the pass. Apparently the plants have been in bloom for a while, because at the beginning the flowers are white and only later turn to pink.
