Adenocarcinoma of the Sigmoid Colon (en face)

This relatively tiny adenocarcinoma of the sigmoid colon would have been difficult or impossible for the surgeon to palpate at laparotomy. Accordingly, the gastroenterologist made it a bit easier by tattooing the submucosa above and below the tumor. Then the surgeon just had to find the tattooed segment and resect it!
