Lipogranuloma

This 0.7-cm lipogranuloma was removed from the subcutaneous tissue of the upper arm. The histologic differential diagnosis includes traumatic fat necrosis and factitious panniculitis, the patient recalled no history of trauma or injection.

The section has been cleared with Carnoy's fluid, which enhances the distinction between the lesion and surrouding adipose tissue.

This was shot with a 105-mm f/4 Micro Nikkor on PB-6 bellows, f/16, 1/2 sec, ISO 100, four Photofloods.
