Indonesia, Mount Merapi: Massive aid operation underway to help surivors of volcanic eruptions
Some 36,000 people fleeing the violent eruptions of the Volcano Merapi have found shelter in a large football stadium in down-town Yogyakarta. Local authorities, security forces, the Indonesian Red Cross, NGOs and volunteers have started a massive aid operation to provide them with food, water and medical attention. According to the Indonesian government some 200,000 have now fled their homes, with the death toll at over 120.
