EU response to cyclone Idai in Mozambique
Drones are used in the Sofala province to map the extent of the damage after cyclone Idai, to see where humanitarian aid trucks can go and which areas displaced people can return to. EU humanitarian aid has supported drone equipment and trainings given by the World Food Programme to Mozambican national disaster management staff. Disaster preparedness is a priority for EU Humanitarian Aid in the Southern Africa and Indian Ocean region.
