"And one more at Don-e-hower!"

Here is the last day of Don Knudson career as a Train Dispatcher for the Milwaukee Road/Soo Line/CP. He retired after 40+ years after this shift. Don, or DGK, worked the River Sub for many years in various positions. Starting as an agent, then tower operator, then train dispatcher. Don is originally from around West Salem, WI and his brother Butch, worked Grand Crossing tower in La Crosse, WI until it closed. So being that they were from my home area, made them almost like family to me.

Don's son now works for BNSF in the Twin Cities.

Here Don is "OSing" a train on the train sheet for the River Sub. He owned first shift, and I was his relief for second shift on the River.

Don is one funny guy if you ever meet him. One of my lasting memories of him is at my bachelor party at a strip club in South St Paul. Needless to say, we were having a great time, and my friend Gordy poked at me to look at "K-nudt" as we called him. I looked over, and he had a stripper naked in front of him, and had her "dress" wrapped around his head. Lord almighty I still laugh about that sight.
