Aloe lavranosii 3912

It must be getting close to lunch time. My computer hasn't dinged at me literally and figuratively in an hour and I think I covered everyone's posts for the day. Soooo, continuing with aloes, I don't know how many there are but Google estimates 500. But Google also used the word "types" instead of species, so...

Anyway, of all the aloes, desert plants, and wooly species of flower I encountered last spring and summer, none intrigued me more than Aloe lavransil. There are very few aloe that have furry flowers, and all that do are indigenous to the Red Sea. This one comes from Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula. This one bloomed twice last summer, and I was lucky to have captured this gem. It is a yellow flower ... with red accents. There are three that I "captured," yellow, red, and green. The others will show up again before the year is out.

Maybe I should have saved this one for Christmas but, no, I'll post the same image for the ninth year on the 24th ish
