Scrub Jay 7272
Now known as the Inland Jayh, the bluest of the three subspecies in California. But when I took this, there was just scrub jay and scrub jay. All three California Scrubs are brighter than the Florida Scrub Jay, and it always surprised me that there were California and Florida and California Scrub Jays and nothing in between. Jays are among my favorites. Their behavior, intelligence, and sheer beautyare kind of like the squirrels of the avrian worls. As well they should be. Corvids (blackbirds, ravens, crows ... all intelligent, all fascinating. I still highly recommend the book, "Gifts of the Crows." And if you haven't seen it, there's a National Geographic special on the intelligence of the crows (Corvids). I have friends with lower IQs.Of course, I have friends with IQs who can't spell IQ. My favorites are Gray and Green Jays. They'll outwit any campground dweller, and I swear they have a sense of humor.
