And today's mystery items are.....
A Swanage tobacconists printing set???
These were together in a metal pencil case, 2 standard 'cigarette' printing blocks, 2 standard blocks of the Swanage crest (one steel on wood and one brass) A brass plate with the tobacconists details then the curious brass round blocks with a hole through the middle and a screw thread hole that I assume held them on a rod. What are they and how were they used?
The address reads
Manufacturers :-
Messrs Bick's
(Proprietor E. Phillips)
2&3, Exeter Place Swanage
Bick's certainly existed during the 2nd world war, caught fire and then re established, may have been there earlier but has gone now.
The round blocks say Bick's, Best Virginia, crest and the image of the garland.
Any suggestions on what they are or history on the shop most welcome.
