zombie illustration

This is something I did a few months ago--thought i would upload it on my flickr account as well~

 

This was an assignment in my illustration 202 class to take a board game (our group chose zombies) and illustrate a concept that was developed by the art director in our group. I didn't have much say in my composition for this piece, because it was already pre-determined by my group's art director.

 

What I -did- have a say in was how I went about rendering this piece. I chose to use microns, red and black respectively, to render this piece. I wanted to use a limited palette, and I am glad I did. The illustration is about 8x10, and must have taken around 20 hours or so. I'd say at least 5 hours was put just into working out the composition and poses alone. The people in this illustration are my friends:

Matt, Sarah, Eric, Jordan and Ashley.

Apparently, I like gory things. Everyone in our group interpreted zombies in a different manner, but mine are by far the goriest ones. Win!

Also, I am aware of the fact that you cannot see the back of the chainsaw. I am going to add that later, and update it.
