Prismacolor Mugatu
Well, it has been FOREVER since I have submitted anything to flickr, and I have about 40 or so pieces yet to photograph/upload. This piece in particular was a blast to make, done in prismacolor on 12x16 black bristol. It has a little texture to it, which I think really adds to the piece. My fundamentals teacher suggested that I add the Van Gogh-esque swirls to the background, as it matches Mugatu's hair.
I have been wanting to make an art piece based on Mugatu for a very long time, as I love Zoolander and Will Ferrell. Funny thing--I used the exact same color scheme for a larger scaled Prismacolor piece in my senior year of high school. Only issue is--I have yet to upload that, too.
I also made a smaller scale version of this piece on white bristol, and although I was not so thrilled about color on white (thanks Ro) it turned out pretty cool, and it was interesting to see how the colors reacted differently on white. I like black more.
Well, enjoy!
