Reston Town Center

I was in the process of setting up this shot when Reston Town Center (RTC) security came by and informed me I couldn't shoot with a tripod.

 

Because of all the foot traffic? (the place was empty)

Because of damage to the sidewalk? (rubber tipped tripod)

 

No, specifically to deter professional photographers...who are welcome to photograph anything hand held during the day. Security told me you needed written permission to photograph these buildings with a tripod, but didn't need any if you weren't using one.

 

I had a nice chat with the security guard, but it wasn't going anywhere so I asked for some contact information for the management company and am drafting an email to them now.

 

I get really frustrated with shit like this. I didn't even get the shot centered perfectly before I had to pack up and go.
