Spring feelings...

Explore #35 April 29, 2022

... were created deep in my heart when I discovered this wonderful creature under the cherry blossoms. Feelings so strong that I can hardly find the right words to describe these moments of bliss. Very early in the morning I was out and about in one of the most beautiful cherry blossom areas in my homeland. The cherry trees in Switzerland are mainly found in the west embedded in an impressive landscape full of hills and forests. In this region there are large natural areas and many wild animals. Above all, the bird life is still fine here. I come here every year and am delighted by this large cherry tree garden, which then shows itself from its most beautiful side. Everything is then in the purest white and the meadows in a soft green. Life is back at its most beautiful way. The birds sing me a morning song as I watch the rising sun let its golden light glide over the rolling hills. Then suddenly I see him flying by, the king of the trees. An impressively beautiful green woodpecker like I've never seen before. And that in one of my absolut favorite places. What great luck, what a moving moment. I try to follow him, losing sight of him, but there he is again, holding onto another cherry tree and looking at me. I try to focus on him, two or three seconds and he's gone again. This mutual game lasts quite a while and I'm simply delighted but also a bit nervous. Can I capture it with my camera or, as is so often the case, not in the end?

I don't manage to photograph the green woodpecker in its full size, but I must be satisfied to be able to observe him from this distance and to have taken this picture of the green beauty in the middle of the cherry blossoms. These moments of happiness have found their place deep in my heart, and this is the main reason that I want to share with you this image.

Thank you so much for take part on my little adventure in one of my beloved places in Switzerland. I'm so happy to have friends like you. I'm sometimes not so often on Flickr, because I love to be out there in the great outdoors and I'm not the youngest anymore. So I need more time in fresh air and all my beloved elements in nature. Heartfelt thanks for your great understanding and patience with me dear friends. Enjoy the spring season to the fullest.
