Shoreline Suncruisers 32
There have been a number of summer season bus services between Scarborough and surrounding holiday camps and Flamingo Land theme park in Ryedale over the past few years. EYMS operated a Wednesdays-only service numbered X28 between Reighton Sands, Flamingo Land, and Eden Camp in the 2013 and 2014 seasons, making a stagecarriage route out of what had previously run as a coach excursion. For the 2016 season, Shoreline introduced a service registered as ‘Flamingoland’ operating between Blue Dolphin, Flower of May, Crows Nest, Cayton Bay, and Flamingo Land on selected Wednesdays in June, July, and August, primarily in the six week summer holiday. The 2018 season saw the introduction of additional service 888 which commenced under Shoreline on 24 March. The 888 has made a return for the 2019 season with some modifications. Most notably, the peak summer and school holiday extension beyond Scarborough to Blue Dolphin and other holiday camps – which duplicated the existing 'Flamingoland' service on Wednesdays in the summer school holidays – has been dropped. The basic concept of operating two round trips to Flamingo Land between late March and early November has been retained however.
Former London United and Ipswich Buses Trident LG02FEM (32) was captured as it passed St Stephen's Church in Snainton whilst operating the 10:25 from Flamingo Land back to Scarborough. This journey and the afternoon working to Flamingo Land are essentially positioning workings which, from previous observations, neither carry many passengers nor necessarily stick too closely to the timetable. One or two folk were on board today, perhaps encouraged to use the service by the fact that the main bus service in this area – the EYMS 128 – is running to its reduced winter Sunday timetable until next week.
