The crew of UP's TRT-909 stay busy into the wee hours, maintaining the massive track-replacement machine. The TRT has the old rail spread apart just to the right of the frame, while the new rail lay in between being pulled into position. Further down, old ties are removed and new concrete ties are inserted, all automagically.
This is quite an operation-- Over a half-dozen work trains spread over 8 miles-- the Joliet Sub never saw this much action!
