Waiting for the End

The crew of the last train to operate on the Dundee Spur waits patiently for some remaining bits of salvaged material to be loaded into a gondola at the far end of "Half-Moon Trestle" in Passaic, NJ. The damp, gloomy weather was fitting for the last day of operation on this unique former Erie Railroad spur. Some of my earliest railway photos were taken on this line roughly 35 years prior, so I made an effort to be present on this final day of operation.
