Day 119: Random Crap (see the larger version of this image). The magic smoke is released (okay, it was lysol) as I break open the package.
So I got my first Bag of Crap from woot right before thanksgiving. It finally showed up today, and at first I was impressed. A nice heavy box, and I must have lucked into something good. The first thing I noticed on opening was the lack of packing material, then when I took the DVD recorder out the top fell off. That is when I realized I really got a bag of crap. I assume woot just unloads returned under warranty merchandize by sticking it in Random crap bags.
The DVD recorder didn't work at first, but when the top was off I noticed woot must have taken the hard drive out. I inserted my own hard drive and it seems to be working fine with the exception of the DTV digital tuner for ATSC and QAM.
The next item was a black zune (thank you god for not giving me a Pink zune), and it has no accessories to test with. The only new products in the package were the creepy toys and the compact camera case too small for most compact cameras.
Overall, I can't say I am surprised with a name like Random Crap, as that is exactly what I got. I can say I got a good deal, especially since the DVD Recorder seems 90% functional and who knows about the zune. I feel like I just went dumpster diving without the dumpster.
