Otter Creek via Fernow
I went back to my roots with this shot. My favorite subjects to shoot when I first started landscape photography were mountain streams of all sizes. This one, Otter Creek, flows through the namesake Otter Creek Wilderness in West Virginia, an area popular with backpackers and day-trippers alike. This section of stream was accessed from a trail in Fernow Experimental Forest. I wanted to capture the dark red color of the water (due to tannins) along with the warm colors of fall just beginning in the area. I was also very particular about how I conveyed motion in the water, I wanted it smooth yet detailed.
Let me know what you think in the comments.
