'Shallows..'

When I started the Micro Four Thirds journey a year or so back I wasn't sure how that would affect my landscapes.

In researching before buying I'd read a lot of negative posts about 'all the problems' with M4/3 and how it's only good for birding and macro - even here on flickr when you search by camera it's predominately birds and hey, if that's your thing then more power to you :-)

I'd been told "don't bother doing this" and "forget about that - you just have to acccept it can't".

Some things are true enough, you can't be lazy with M4/3 there's not enough data to crop in later, you have to change the glass for the shot or accept that it's jus 'too' far away,.- well actually that's just a truth of all the systems .. .isn't it?? I'm sure there are medium format photographers who bemoan the fact that they just can't crop in far enough.

The whole focal length vs field of vue 'thing' really messed with my head -at the start continually converting one to the other. Just accept what your using - if it's a wide scene grab the 'wide one' .. if it's a long way away get the really 'long one' - simples.

Mostly I've simply ignored all that 'wisdom' from the web and 'used' the gear in a way that makes me happy.

When I see images I've caught (this one for e.g.) I'm so thankful that I backed myself and took the leap - Landscape with M4/3 .. just don't do it folks - it'll never work.
