Burnham, Illinois, 23MAR'69
Erie Lackawanna, C&O, N&W and Monon weren't the only show having trackage rights on the C&WI. An occasional visitor would be this CB&Q SD9 "caboose hop" as it approaches Burnham tower, probably returning from making a delivery to another railroad. At this time most transfer jobs made deliveries only, returning "light" back to their home road. This crew has a long way to go before they reach their "Q" base. The N&W former NKP double track is in the foreground and of course, the double track under the wires belongs to the South Shore.
