8/365 : Fresh baked
Over the holidays, Danielle experimented with sourdough, including making & nurturing her own starter. It took a little work to get the starter going but now it's fully active and produces the most wonderful (sour) bread dough imaginable.
The downside of maintaining a sourdough starter is that it takes a little effort every day. The upside is fresh bread every day.
We've been told that sourdough starters develop a personality of their own (thanks to their unique microbiomes) and some people even give them names to reflect said personality. After having binge-watched The Crown over the holidays we've decided to name our starter "Princess Margaret."
