Tarr Steps Winter, Exmoor, UK

Tarr Steps is a Grade 1 Clapper Bridge that spans the River Barle in Somerset. It dates back 3, 000 years, is constructed of 17 huge stone slabs and has been at least twice repaired due to massive floods from global warming (1952 and last year).

Legend has it that the Devil made oath to kill any living thing that crossed as he wanted exclusive sunbathing rights there! It's rumored that locals sent a cat across as a test, and the poor thing was vaporised. Only after a show down between the Devil and the local parson did the Devil lift his curse, and its perfectly safe to cross today!

This is Exmoor's most photographed location hence didn't mind the retired couple and their dog at the end of the bridge - definitely not one to shoot on Sunday if you want a peaceful look :)
