Proton-M/Briz-M

 

 

The Proton-M, is a Russian heavy lift launch vehicle derived from the Soviet-developed Proton.

It is built by Khrunichev, and launched from sites 81 and 200 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

Commercial launches are marketed by International Launch Services (ILS), and generally use Site 200/39.

The first Proton-M launch occurred on 7 April 2001.

 

The Briz-M.

It´s a russian liquid-propellant rocket used for orbit insertion upper stages.

Manufactured by Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center. Used on the Proton-M rocket.

 

On March 15, 2012, the ESA's ruling council announced it will press ahead with its ExoMars program (ESA) in partnership with the Russian space agency (Roscosmos), which plans to contribute two heavy-lift Proton launch vehicles.
