Everybody Hurts
Everybody Hurts
R.E.M
When your day is long
And the night, the night is yours alone
When you're sure you've had enough
Of this life, well hang on
Don't let yourself go
'Cause everybody cries
And everybody hurts sometimes
Sometimes everything is wrong
Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone (Hold on, hold on)
If you feel like letting go (Hold on)
If you think you've had too much
Of this life, well hang on
Everybody hurts
Take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts
Don't throw your hand, oh no
So, Im wandering around the estate of the exclusive Milton Park at Bowral on Sat morning, and I stumble across the reception area, hidden down one of many driveways. As I'm standing there hoping that someone doesnt appear and see a guy with a backpack and tripod that resembles a rifle from a distance, strolling around their property, I glance over my shoulder, and see this unbelievably huge Willow Tree opposite where I'm standing. So, over I go to have a look, and once underneath the veil of leaves and branches, I'm standing there absolutely blown away. I'm totally enveloped 360 degrees by this magnificient tree, and look around to see the rising sun trying very hard to break through the leaves and branches in front of me. At this stage, I'm seeing the shot and as much as its an amazing experience, the scene I'm seeing in my head is someone who is suffering from depression. I'm seeing all these beautiful colours, beautiful soft light, but I'm also seeing those branches spreading out and creeping into this persons soul, trying to steal away the happiness and envelop them in darkness at that moment.
I dont for one moment pretend that I am an expert on this illness, far from it, but that was the way I felt at that moment in time and I tried to capture the scene to show this.
The song I have named it after is the R.E.M classic, Everybody Hurts. Hope you like it....Cheers, Mike
