Pink Kowinkydink

I'm always alert to anything in my surroundings that seems out of place. While driving up an oak-lined mountain road leading to Ojai, CA, my right peripheral vision caught a bright pink splash of color through an opening in the trees and off in a meadow I screeched the brakes and flipped around to see what it was. To my delight, there was quite a large "flock" of plastic pink flamingos- about 20 of them They were not in typical flamingo "yard ornament style" display. Instead of being in obvious view and close to the road, they were by themselves, privately "grazing" in the long grass about 200 yards from the road, where most passersby would not notice them. I sheepishly approached them through the knee-high grass... as if I were stalking live prey or something. :-) You see, when I'm in a moment of discovery like that, reality disappears and I've gone through the looking glass into a make-believe adventure and a chase of curiosities.
