This year, English Language Fellow Susan Strand is teaching and developing materials for the new U Talca Pedagogía de Educación Media en Inglés program. We began the year on March 16 with 23 freshmen. The first year program includes English through Cultural Studies, Teaching English through Sports Drama, Using Technology to Communicate, Pronunciation & Communication Skills, Oral & Written Communication. As this is the first year any of these courses have been taught and there are no particular course books, the preparation, materials development, and training OF newly hired instructors are major components of my work. In addition, Susan is working with colleagues in the Programa Idiomas to continue development of a Professional Development program.
