The Lannins had owned the Red Sox and sold the team to Harry Frazee in 1917, who was then later infamous for selling Babe Ruth to the Yankees to finance his musical _No, No, Nanette_. Mr Lannin died eight years later after a fall from a ninth story window, believed to have been accidental, since he was worth $7m at the time.
