We decided on our final day in Tokyo to go hunting for high-tech stuff and robots, so made our way to the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan), which was amazing. The thing that really set it apart from places like London's Science Museum was the number of staff there employed as "science communicators", there to explain things to all the museum-goers. This was Pippin's favourite exhibit: a model internet working on black and white billiard balls that rolled around between these turrets encoding addresses and messages for four or five terminals where people (mostly kids) could compose, receive and send messages.
