Harman Phoenix 200 is one of the very few films developed from scratch (you can read more about it here). In its current iteration, it's a “quirky, experimental film [that] produces high-contrast images with strong, visible grain and punchy, vibrant colours”, and I will agree with Harman Photo's press release – it is a high-contrast film. Grain is not that bad, it has the look of expired film, but its sharpness is decidedly sub-par – it is not a sharp film!
I metered it at 125ASA, two-thirds of a stop below its rated 200ASA speed, and seeing the results, I won't even try to use it at the box speed. Halation effects are clearly present, but not as visible as on CineStill films.
Overall, I'm more than positively surprised, and I am happy with the results!
Here, a reflection of a 202-meter-high chimney of Zagreb's power-and-heating plant, glistening in the morning sun.
Taken with Contax 167MT film camera and Carl Zeiss Planar T∗ 50mm F1.7 lens, on Harman Phoenix 200 film, rated at 125ASA.
Scanned with Plustek OpticFilm 8100 film scanner using VueScan 9.
