Bottled up
A variation of the Habushu, an unusual Okinawan beverage based on awamori, the Okinawan version of shochu, distilled from rice, including full habus, the native to Okinawa venomous snake of the pit viper family. To produce Habushu, the anawamori is first mixed with herbs and honey, and a habu is then inserted into the liquid either directly, drowning it, or after freezing and cutting/gutting/sewing the snake, and thawing it to die in anguish, after which it is stored in alcohol mixes of decreasing grades, before ending up in the 35% awamori. A habu snake is able to mate for as long as 26 hours, which causes some to believe that a drink of habushu may help sexual dysfunction in men.
