The Summit of the Peak of Escalavrado at 1,420 meters (4,659 ft) MSL, Serra dos Órgãos ('Organs Range') National Park, Guapimirim and Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil.

Descending the Peak of Escalavrado was a challenging but rewarding experience. The trail is steep and winding, with many exposed spots. However, the views from the top are breathtaking, making the challenge worthwhile.

The trail started at the Paraíso da Serra restaurant, on the Rio-Teresópolis Highway. The hike to the top took about 4:40 hours (roundtrip). The trail is well marked, but it's important to be aware of your surroundings and be careful not to get lost.

At the top, we were rewarded with stunning views of the Serra dos Órgãos. We saw the God's Finger, the Carboy, the Bell Stone and other mountains. We also saw Rio de Janeiro and Guanabara Bay.

The descent was faster than the ascent, but it was still challenging. It is important to descend carefully and avoid rushing. The descent back to the Paraíso da Serra restaurant took about 2 hours.

The descent of the Peak of Escalavrado was an experience I will never forget. It was a testament to my strength and determination, and the views from the top were breathtaking.

Lever:

The knee is the largest joint in our body. It is vulnerable to injury because it is relatively exposed, supports the weight of the body, and, as the center of a lever, transmits and multiplies the forces applied to it.

The main force is the weight of the body. By the lever mechanism, when flexing the knee, the average body weight is multiplied 5 to 7 times.

Going up and down mountains puts a lot of strain on the knees. When movement is done frequently, injuries can result.

Going down peaks forces the knee more than going up because the joint, on the way down, needs to brake the body's weight before taking the next step.
