My first page in Stillman Birn sketchbook.

(Zeta Series...heavyweight 180 lb....White....5 1/2" by 8 1/2")

..testing out how it will take watercolor and inks etc.

I spent 3 days working off and on doing this spread a bit at a time for less tension for me...you can't imagine how many times I wet the cardinal and took off color with tissues to tone him down..didn't want to glaze him with green---they are spectacular for me to see around here and most colorful of any birds that come to visit the feeder on the window......well, the gull doesn't, but they are around here sometimes, down by the pond...I am using my own photos plus 2 of my brother, Sumner's....I didn't find any problems with this paper for sketch book work.....it responded well to working the washes, erasing etc......
