The population of Vágur is around 1400. Vágur is located on the east coast of the island Suðuroy, which is the southernmost of the Faroe Islands. The village has also a west coast, as the distance between the east and west coast is only 2 km or so. Most of the village is on the northern part of the fjord, Vágsfjørður. The Faroe Islands are located between Scotland, Norway and Iceland in the North Atlantic Ocean. It takes two hours by plane to Copenhagen in Denmark, Atlantic Airways has daily route to Denmark and in summertime there are several routes to Iceland, United Kingdom and Norway.
