Garbage... or at this day I hate oysters.

Garbage (noun).

1. junk, rubbish,litter, trash.

2. worthless, useless, or unwanted matter.

3. food wastes, as from a kitchen.

It’s a strange spirit to define word ‘garbage’, isn’t it? Everybody knows what is it, every day contacting it, disposing it, or trowing it away...

It’s happened last May in Amsterdam during my last travel to Europe. I love Amsterdam, was there many times and always been surprized by this really free city, which can give everyone whatever he wants, from romantic feelings to any bad or dirty wishes, it’s up to you. I love beautiful canals, embankments, magical narrow streets, fantastic architecture, very friendly multilingual people... everything here, but at this time I couldn’t see that all. It was the strike of sanitation workers and all city was covered by huge hills of garbage. It was disaster for all people and I was not exception.

Carefully stealing through the trash mountains on a sidewalk I saw the man, who looked very happy.

He was laughing and eating in a same time. He probably just found this food in a garbage.... Because I know that in Amsterdam everyone speaks any language, I came and asked him: “What’s so funny, why you are laughing?” He said: “Today I have a great choice for eating. Today I hate oysters...” I don’t know why but I remembered Woody Allen phrase: "I will not eat oysters. I want my food dead. Not sick, not wounded: dead."

So, it’s always like this - what’s bad for someone is good for others. For that man it was a holiday of all his life. I looked at garbage around me and understood how painterly wonderful it is...
