Chestnut-eared Aracari

From Gold to Garnet

Yesterday’s Saffron Toucanet came from the fruit-filled Atlantic Forest of Brazil. Today, meet its cousin, the Chestnut-eared Aracari—boldly colored and spread across much of the Amazon.

Both love fruit, but the Aracari has a wilder palate, adding insects, eggs, and even small animals to the menu. While the toucanet favors dense forest and softer fruits like figs, the Aracari is more adaptable, thriving in rainforests, woodlands, and even plantations.

The Chestnut-eared Aracari’s hard to ignore

Yellow teethknuckles with a beak to adore.

(“Teeth-Knuckles” is a made-up word. But admit it—it fits.)
