TheTrain Now Arriving
On my latest day trip to London I took a few Underground shots. I headed for the outer edges of the Network where it was less busy and ended up at Tooting Bec towards the southern end of the Northern Line.
I think that permits are required for professional photography but casual photographs are allowed but no tripods and no flash.
The picture was taken with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 10mm. Taken handheld at 640 ISO and at 1/5 of a second. I got a low angled shot for more drama. Taken in RAW. The image was opened in Camera Raw and 2 additional images were created at =2EV and -2Ev for a “false HDR” with each image having Noiseware Pro applied. A Photoshop action I had saved was used to create the extra images automatically.
Photoshop
General adjustments in levels and curves to enhance with layer masks to exclude the highlight areas
Vibrance layer was increased by 62 points.
Hue Saturation adjustment layer yellows and reds decreased to more natural look.
Topaz Adjust used to bring out more detail and a gritty look with a layer mask to exclude some parts of the train and roof.
Noiseware Pro
Unsharp Mask a little sharpening.
Duplicate layer with mask to apply extra sharpening (clarity effect) with layer mask to exclude highlight areas.
Healing brush with Content Aware CS5 used to remove some small flare areas.
