Spiral Up London
Time for another Spiral Staircase. This was taken at a church in London. The tower is normally closed to the public but I persuaded a lady warden to open it up for me so I could take pictures of the spiral, strictly from the bottom only, health and safety! Normally I would say where the location is but she did say they were becoming tired of photographers asking for it to be opened up so I will spare them any more grief. She did say she thought photographing spiral staircases was a little weird! Cannot argue, I think a lot of things photographers take pictures of are regarded the same by non photographers.
Light levels were very low and I could only just get a decent shutter speed at 800 ISO. I used a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens at 11 mm. 3 raw images 2EV spacing. The images were opened in Photoshop first and each image saved as tiffs. HDR processing was in Photomatix using Fusion for a natural look.
I edited a lot with Topaz using Topaz Clarity, Topaz Denoise, Topaz Detail and Topaz BW Effects for the mono conversion. I cropped for better composition and did a slight vignette using Topaz Adjust and just the vignette feature.
