Untitled

Inspired by the industrial-precisionist paintings of Ralston Crawford, currently on display at the New Orleans Museum of Art.

Persephone and I both made pieces at the Friday night art-making activity, under the tutelage of a couple Xavier students working with YaYa Inc.

I originally did the lines in colored pencil, and they were very weak. I like a strong line. So when Hurricane Isaac handed me a bunch of downtime, I inked them with a felt-tip marker.

I'd meant to color in all the fields, but I left one blank at Persephone's insistence.

We try to make it to the museum every Friday night, but this was the first time I got to make my own piece. Usually I assist Persephone.

She's growing more independent. She made her piece into a mask. Then all the kids wanted to make masks.
