Highbridge Reopened Today!

Crossing from the Bronx to Manhattan, Highbridge is New York City's oldest standing bridge. So old that you can find an illustration of Edgar Allan Poe walking across it.

It has been closed to the public since 1970 and reopened today. New York's first High Line and newest pedestrian bridge connects city parks in both boroughs but also acts as a commuter bicycle path from Manhattan to the Bronx. The story How the High Bridge Rose From Ruin is worth a read.
