Your Generosity
I recently had an e-mail exchange with the creator of Scout, the application that generates these sets. I suggested that, given the way the Magic Donkey is now moving images in and out of of the Interestingness archives on an almost hourly basis to achieve greater variety and fairness to flickr's growing population, the set generator should include images seen there in the last n days rather than just at the moment of the query Scout makes.
So, the result would be "last seen at #5 @ 3:00am, March 25th, 2006" and then an image would only drop out of your Interestingness archive collection once it had not been seen there for a set period of time. This would accurately show people all of the images they have in the archive cycle, and it is now a cycle rather than a set-in-stone thing.
I think this is a better way to show people what they have in the Interestingness archives, and the creator of Scout agreed. So, look for that change sometime in the future.
