In developed countries around the world, birthrates have been falling. Governments have taken note, fearing for their long-term economic growth and national security, and many countries have developed policies to encourage their citizens to have more children. Through case studies of Sweden, France, Italy, Japan, and Singapore, ‘The Other Population Crisis’ explores the motivations, politics, programming, and consequences of national efforts to increase birthrates.
