Fans of economic progress attended Gear Up, Game On, a pre-season fundraiser for the Center for Economic Progress (CEP) on Sept 13, 2012. Presented by the CEP Associate Board & MB Financial Bank at Market Restaurant & Bar in Chicago, it was a lively evening that provided the opportunity for young professionals to network while championing financial security for low-income families.

Some who attended engaged in friendly competition by wearing either blue & orange or green & gold while they watched the Bears/Packers game. Sadly the home team didn’t win. However, raffle prize winners took away some great prizes: Home Run (Value: $360) Tim N; Olympic Spirit (Value: $282) Adam B; My Kind of Town (Value: $200) Hanna W; For the Enemy (Value: $600) Andrew H aka Go Pack!

The biggest winners were CEP clients. Thanks to MB Financial Bank generously sponsoring the evening, all ticket & raffle proceeds fund mission critical services including free financial coaching and tax preparation for low-income families. It’s a win-win for CEP clients and their communities.

Plus, there’s more good news! For the first time at an Associate Board event, new giving qualified for a 100% match from an anonymous CEP donor. Instead of the usual terrific $35 of economic impact in a community for every $1 invested, the match will yield an incredible $70!

Since 1990 Center for Economic Progress (CEP) has helped hard-working, low-income families move from financial uncertainty to financial security. Among the free tax and financial services offered by CEP is free tax preparation at tax sites in Chicago, Springfield and throughout Illinois. Tax season sites are open from late January until mid April. Other tax site services include: Financial Aid U (FAFSA); Checking and Savings Accounts; Prepaid Debit Card; ITINs.

CEP provides clients with free financial services year-round including financial coaching, Money Action Days, and other tax-related services. CEP’s Tax Clinic in its Chicago Loop office provides full representation for clients facing controversy with the IRS or Illinois Dept of Revenue.

These services are provided with the essential assistance of donors and volunteers. Center for Economic Progress enjoys a reputation as a trusted service provider, a strong and valuable partner in the communities served, and a responsible steward of donors' investments.
