When one is so preoccupied with the pandemonium of the day-to-day, it becomes easy to lose sight of the end goal. Michael Summers's Seeking Balance captures that particular moment of realization. Summers's “American Surrealism” conveys real human emotions and experiences with humor and playful imagery. Precariously stacked one atop the other, Summers's animals venture forth into the great blue unknown. The bear, perched stoically at the center, plots the course. The courageous lion reigns fierce, yet protective. The monkey rides with ease, adventurous and playful. Each creature reveals the character traits that make the journey an adventure. Floating weightlessly in this miraculous state, these explorers discover with wonder and vivacity a time when pigs do fly, when the impossible becomes possible.
