Bagan - Mahabodhi Temple
Bagan is quite possibly the greatest place I've ever been.
Almost 1500 years ago, a magnificent city of temples was built out of brick and stone in central Myanmar. The kilns firing the brick required so much wood to burn, the land became arid and barren, stripped of it's trees, and the city was eventually abandoned
before it was ever finished. Today the trees have returned and nearly 3,000 temples, chedis and stupas survive, some ruined, some active. From the tops of the temples, looking across this vast green field, you can see nearly every one. As the setting sun falls over Bagan, you find yourself in the most perfect place this world can offer. Harmony fills your soul. I want to sleep right here.
