"Interrupted Negotiations"
“Besides the faint, muffled sound of distant traffic and peaceful ‘singing’ of a slight breeze wrapping itself around the aluminium scaffolding – the outskirts of Harare appeared eerily quiet. The wait had been long and cold, as some mornings can be in early November, but soon would come the moment Specialist Harris had waited for. The intelligence had been correct: at exactly 7.10 AM, the head building contractor of Epworth rushed towards one of the large apartment complexes under construction. Simultaneously, a dark – yet dusty 4x4 had pulled up in from of the complex, allowing three Eurasian soldiers to greet the man dressed in his short-sleeved, orange suit. Harris had moved his scope slightly to the left, as he waited for a fourth silhouette to exit the vehicle. When the trained oceania sniper noticed that the figure had moved passed his insubordinates – Harris decided his time had come. For a split second, the whistling sound of wind around the metal structure he rested on was replaced by a sharp, loud report – caused by a single discharge of his rifle. When the Eurasian commander dropped to the floor, the only thing that reminded his associates of any hostile presence was the sniper rifle still perched up on the platform. Spc. Harris had already left the scene…”
After operation Cetshwayo had ended and UFA declared victory, Eurasian forces where forced to withdraw to the friendly governments of Tanzania and Ethiopia. However, after recent events involving the unsuccessful power grasp of The Congo and despite the help of Oceanic forces, the UFA failed to hold their power on its territories. This chaotic period resulted in a surreptitious return of Eurasian forces in The Congo. Their purpose: to internally strengthen their ties with local corporations and communities. While Oceanic forces are still present in the area, command has given the instruction to prevent any large scale operations and resort to using highly skilled specialists such as Harris, weeding out the Eurasian leadership and supervision.
