Dusty Pixel
Portrait of the First Lady
While trimming a mesquite tree late yesterday I got my first lady (beetle) photo op. I have never successfully photographed a lady bug, they seem harder to find in the desert southwest, but yesterday was my lucky day. I jumped down from the ladder, grabbed my trusty macro and fortunately returned to find my model waiting.
It was my first shot in weeks and it felt good to be back behind the lens. I was so proud I showed Mrs. Pixel my “First Lady Bug” and the tree in the reflection of the shell along with the setting sun, what detail I told her. Besides I didn’t finish trimming the tree and I was going for the old dazzle her with BS. She gave me one of those looks and then returned with the People Magazine she had put aside to mark the historic election. There was Michelle Obama's dress, which I remembered caused quite a fashion stir.
I put the shot below for comparison, but I must tell you for me it was one of those mind twisting moments. I figured it was a sign, a message to Dusty “to get back on the horse and return to FLICKR”. I have been consumed working, playing catch-up from vacation as well as the holiday and denying myself my true passion, Photography.
Thanks to the First Lady (both of them) as I am happy to be back on FLICKR.
