Alluminous light art festival Almere 2023

After a successful first edition in 2022, the second edition of ALLUMINOUS started again. Along a two-hour walking route around the Weerwater in Almere, visitors to ALLUMINOUS experience eight magical light artworks and a beautiful side program. Curator of ALLUMINOUS Ward Janssen says: “In the coming years, Black Pencil will collaborate with ALLUMINOUS on special light art projects. Sound and music are used in the light art genre, giving the projects their own specific artistic character. We are proud that Black Pencil is starting this pioneering route at ALLUMINOUS 2023. ALLUMINOUS presents 4 other new light artworks created especially for the festival. To this end, ALLUMINOUS collaborates with Almere theater companies Vis à Vis, Suburbia and Gouden Haas, each of which put forward a talented theater maker from their own network who linked the organization to visual artists. The resulting duos who create new works of art on commission are Maaike Fransen and Juul Dekker (on behalf of Vis à Vis), MAISON the FAUX and Linda Bosch (on behalf of Suburbia), Oceanic (artist name of DJ and sound artist Job Oberman) and Theun Mosk (on behalf of Gouden). Youth theater company BonteHond selected two young theater makers Zindzi Witte and Serano Pinas who created an educational light artwork with schoolchildren from Almere. In addition, ALLUMINOUS collaborates with Light Art Collection Amsterdam and Flevoland's talent development program Carte Blanche to present additional light artworks in the program. Artworks from Light Art Collection are presented by artists UxU Studio and Vendel & De Wolf. Carte Blanche presents a work of art by Iwan Smit during ALLUMIOUS. Almere organizations M. and Circuloco organize their own activities along the ALLUMINOUS route.
